Dunno about this. It's odd that a man of EIGHTY is making 'sultry rock records' Anyway the video is mildly interesting, recalling the days in the 70s he used to run around NYC with Bowie (I bet he only bumped into him once!)

I quite like it, surprisingly enough. It reminds me a little in terms of atmosphere and production values of latter-day Tuxedomoon. I guess it's only his own vocal performance I'm not keen on, especially on the chorus. But it feels like a fairly elegantly constructed track.

Sounds like RiL era Talking Heads on painkillers. It's "interesting", which probably means I'll never listen to it again. I reckon you should pick it as one of your new cup three J.

Yeah, I'm usually of the 'old rock stars have done their time, and don't owe us anything, let them do what they want' school, but for this I'll make an exception. It's weird.
I think maybe because it seems so self-consciously 'current' yet simultaneously throwback to when grandpa was 'cool'.
I love Cale (well, up till about a decade or two ago, at least) but this seems pretty pointless. I'd probably rather hear string quartets from him at this point.

I'm a sucker for his singing voice even as it withers away. He still has enough oomph for it to work for me. I like when Cale does stuff like this. trying to show not only that he's still around but he still feels like there's a place for him in the marketplace. too bad he feels he has to attach himself to Bowie's carcass to do it but, what the hell?
I might give it a spin again when I'm in a mood for him.

Broadly agree with DF. If I didn't know it was Cale - and tbh I couldn't tell just from the voice - and I was rating it in a cup, say, I would have given it five out of ten as a track. His age and reputation are irrelevant, really. There was something agreeably cinematic about it, although the actual video was a bit naff, I thought.

Yes, he really is.
I wish I had good things to say about this latest tune. I can't actually sit through it!

I was ready to write the album off after hearing the single, but this one really is special, I think

There's something about his vocals now which really remind me of Paul Banks of Interpol. So he might actually be ripping off Ian Curtis. The song kinda drifted on a bit pointlessly for me.
