Enjoyable Question Time tonight, with everyone true to type. I really do wish they'd get shot of Fiona Bruce THO

I was expecting more of a meltdown from Johnny Mercer, the last time he was on QT, he was manic, a complete car crash. Kinda disappointed he was quite calm while trying to defend the indefensible. Interesting that the tide has shifted so far against the government that even Fiona Bruce called him out on the nonsense of new oil licences and energy security.

He looked even more smug sitting next to drama queen Monbiot

I do too, but he was playing to a very sympathetic crowd with what appeared to be well-rehearsed speeches. The vile Mercer was trying his damnedest to hide his disgust.

Peter Hitchens is an odd egg. He'll say the most preposterous thing and then follow it up with something smart and insightful.

Peter Hitchens is an odd egg. He'll say the most preposterous thing and then follow it up with something smart and insightful. Fuck knows what he was on about with that 'Pabloist' shit regarding Starmer. It seems to originate with Starmer writing for an obscure quasi-Marxist magazine in the 1980s. But who cares what he did in his 20s. I'm sure Hitchens wouldn't want to be characterised by his self-identification as a socialist when he was in his early 20s!

World War 2 Frontlines on Netflix.
There are better docs on the big one, naturally. It packs the story a little too tightly. The colourisation is a triumph.

Dr Who Storyline , performance, interest and excitement- nil. First of, plenty of storyline and some fine action set pieces, if that's what you consider 'excitement'. Second, you do realise this was a first of three with an overall story arc, and was essentially about scene-setting and character introduction/reintroduction? The second and third were both brilliant, a wondrous return to the camp, adult-oriented, tripped-out DW after the often dull worthiness of the Chris Chibnall years. The new big budgets that come with the link-up with Disney made for some great effects, especially in the second episode: there were some great Easter eggs for those like me who have been watching for six decades, and the whole added up to a complete reset with the inspired bi-generation gimmick, which put the 'old' Doctor of the last six decades (numbers 1-14 in the Whovian canon) out to pasture and freed up 15 (played by a - gasp! - black guy) to reinvent the whole thing.
Russel T Davies is a TV genius, so pleased he's picked up the reins again. Looking forward to seeing 15 strut his stuff at Xmas.

I fear it will be lost to the modern morality lesson and message that began with picards star trek. All the while performed at a blustering pace and with effects as loud as they are brash.
I appreciate it has a cult following and is enjoyed by many. It is a fireworks display every Saturday night. Some people never tire of the myriad of flash, bangs and noise. That's them.
