Jazz at the Philharmonic (featuring Illinois Jacquet, Nat Cole, Les Paul) - The Blues
Hear Illinois Jacquet invent rock and roll in the course of his solo
That first JATP concert is amazing. I love the interplay between Les Paul and Nat Cole.

I might change my mind about this, because this is a rich year for vocal groups, but seeing loveless's post reminded me of this; more guitar and it's a great vid. 1951 Les Paul and Mary Ford - How High the Moon

You don't have ANY pre-'55 favorites? My knowledge and interaction with the era is limited, tbh..I could probably eek out a few singles from 1950-55, but it's a pretty shallow pool.. Do you have a general lack of interest towards earlier music or have you just not got around to exploring it?

Billie Holiday - Gloomy Sunday
I toyed with the idea of picking an older English version (Hal Kemp/Bob Allen, Paul Whiteman/Johnny Hauser and Paul Robeson all released it in 1936), but couldn't decide on which, so it's Billie.
