Yeah, I might go for that myself.
The Sonics have just announced European dates, too! and PiL, Dexys...

Juicy setlists.
Currently in a hotel room in Newcastle drinking cheap gin and flat tonic water.

I was watching some youtube stuff earlier from the last couple of shows and they're on great form. Lots of Modern Life stuff, fabulous kicking version of 'Parklife' with Phil D, crowd going wild.
Enjoy the show Enoch

The gig was fantastic btw.
An up-for-it crowd singing along to almost every song. Albarn looked like he'd had a few, relations seemed warm and convivial in the band and they played for almost 2 hours. I sweated like a bastard. Nice venue too.

New single.
On first hearing it's decent. The arrangement seems stronger than the song, which is a kind of predictable melody, but it does build in quite a strong way. Certainly better than most bands this late into their career manage.

Yes. I've come around to 'Parklife' again (the song). The band themselves were snooty about it for years, but it's clear from recent footage that they're having a ball playing it again (that might not last, of course). It's a ridiculous thing, and I can understand anyone not going for it, but I love the way they went all out to make something poppy, chanty, memorable.... annoying, even. I mean, this is HUGE fun.

I've always disliked it but I admire its brazenness and the fact that it went straight for the jugular. The lyrics are actually pretty witty, as pop lyrics go. It's got that singalong yob factor that you can find in punk, Sham 69 or on the football terrace which of course is a huge part of its appeal. You either react against that or embrace it.
This is worth a watch if you like Blur. I like Coxon, he comes across as a gentle, nice fella with a few nervous tics but he talks about the annoying quality in Parklife too (1.28 in)...
