You should definitely have gone for the longer version G. I've edited and added it, so I'll let DF choose.

Ok, I should get to that this afternoon. However, if I'm voting on band name, cover art, or the photo of the band members, I'm expecting to quit this site in a massive strop after feeling personally insulted.

Well, I listened to the 8 minute version first, which is really pretty bloody boring. No-one needs to listen to that rudimentary rhythm section for 6 minutes on its own. The 3 minute version is actually not too bad, once it gets past the terrible intro disaster. I just never want to hear that bassline again in my entire life now. It's a half-decent psyche folk thing ruined by the beards.

Anyway, here's something for Little Jimmy. It's an old fave, so there's a chance it's familiar, but I like the energy on the vocals:

I never should've listened to Coan! I was actually thinking of another song by them! which is actually legitimately great but unlikely to convert DF anyway

From before he stuck his head up his own arse never to return. The Happy Family and the first four solo albums - plus the fifth, Hippopotamomus, at a pinch - were pretty nifty, I thought, but yeah, his conversion to dance music started a downward trend. His 'What Will Death Be Like?' from the golden period .remains one of my favourite singles (well, it was a B-side) for its wordplay/imagery/wild rhymes - namechecking Gorbachev, Tennyson, god and Wittgenstein among others - and extraordinary arrangement. I'm just going to slip it in here in case anyone is interested. Meanwhile, the two tracks posted by Ray have sent me on a monumental Momus binge, I only had Hippopotamomus and really like a lot of his older stuff.
Thanks rayge!!!
err, carry on!

Anyway, here's something for Little Jimmy. It's an old fave, so there's a chance it's familiar, but I like the energy on the vocals: Yus. I am digging that scene. It began with a generic run of the mill 'garage' band huffers feel, you know the ones, their best songs are always a cover of It's all over now baby blue' ( nuggets could have made an 8 c.d box set out of that cover) It just gets better, once adjusted to the gutteral roar of the vocalist, suddenly the guitar shines and joy upon joy enfolds. I didn't know this one at all. Nice pick man.

Um, just for kicks. For........ Fange. Nice one, yeah i'm a fan of SCG though i don't think i've heard this particular album. Their voices do grate on me sometimes, but musically it is quite lovely, especially that elegiac piano.

Um, just for kicks. For........ Fange. They're one of those bands where I never seem to come across any of their albums when out record shopping, even though they've released tons of stuff. I caught Sir Richard Bishop live once though. He supported Swans in some really small venue in Manchester, when Swans came on in it was really overcrowded and far too warm, and they were playing their boring slow prog stuff anyway, so it wasn't a great gig at all. I ended up stood at the back near the door (for the cool air) chatting to John Robb for most of their set. Anyway... Richard Bishop did an acoustic set which made the gig worthwhile, wish I'd have left after he played. Sat in the middle of the audience rather than on stage, one of those guys with a supreme confidence and a kind of force of nature personality. Reminded me of a virtuosic Roy Harper, this big angry voice and really funny with it. One of the best sets I've ever seen, even if Space Prophet Dogon was just about the only song I recognised.
