Has the BBC done that in the past for you? is it still doing it? As much as some might think i'm anti british, i really really admire the BBC. In terms of my goto channel outside sky etc, it's first on my list. It does follow through on it's mission statement. I could be watching some program about the cosmos one minute, some old skool comedy the next, then after that a brilliant tv show usually at 9pm on a sunday. Then it comes up with interesting films once or twice a week that you've never heard of or clean forgot about. They're usually british too.
Obviously other Tory, does everyone else love the BBC? or unlike Tory, think it's shite?

I suspect Toby likes it more than Dougie, who refuses to watch it!
I think it's still probably the best, the one I find watching more than any other one. But I think it only pays lip service to its Reithien principles these days. Unfortunately it's become such a political football, largely through no fault of its own, that I fear for its future. It has dumbed down sadly, but you can still find interesting stuff on it.
I disagree with you on the films though, I think they could be doing much better there.

I don't miss it but I catch the odd thing, like the Queens funeral.
BBC4 was the great disappointment. I don't think they know what to do tbh. The kids aren't into TV but they chase that demographic whilst the older generation who still pay the license fee are increasingly ignored. They are failing on their remit.
There is also bias there that is impossible to ignore and which sticks in the craw.

I wonder how successful BBC3 really is? I never watch it. They chopped the wrong channel in my view. Said that at the time.

I watch the news in the morning, and occasional docs on BBC4. Plus the odd drama, but on iplayer. Not so much in real time.
But, I have been educated, informed, and entertained. Just less so recently. I still rate some of their docs highly, and wish they’d do more- especially arts stuff. You don’t get them on commercial telly. Unless you count exploitation serial killer stuff, and profs about deformed genitalia.

Wow, thought there would be more love for the BBC by the britz. Surprising. Don't know how good you've got it, compared to the RTE. Google if you want a laugh.
