Fuck that shit, one one minute call can save you 12 texts. Call me, i'm not having a discussion over texts.

There's no chance my son would ever answer the phone unless there's an extreme emergency. It's very uncool, apparently, especially phone calls from parents. I'll text him, it goes unanswered. Then I'll phone him, and he'll cut me off. Then he'll reply back with a text saying "what".

My sister and I will sometimes text each other to see if the other has time for a phone call, but that's mainly because we talk during "business" hours, and since we only talk once in a while it saves having to play phone tag, or saying "I can't talk now, can I call you back" any number of times.
Anyone else I might talk to on the phone doesn't need any sort of pre-notification. From what I can gather, these days young people seem a bit hung up (no pun intended) on talking on the phone, and would much prefer to communicate via text. I'm happy with either.

It is certainly a thing. Not with my children so much but in business.
Ever since the Corona period, most of the people I talked to over the phone previousy started insisting on Teams meetings. Personally I don't really see the advantage of this, unless you want to show XL sheets or other docs.
These days a simple phonecall is practically out of the question.

I completely understand people who dislike being called on the phone. In fact it already looks like a crazy idea - expecting someone to drop everything they're doing at precisely the moment you decide to call them? Fuck that for a lark.
Texting someone rather than calling them out of the blue (because it nearly always IS out of the blue) clearly shows more sensitivity. It's basic courtesy.

What is the difference between ignoring the phone and ignoring a text to the sender ?

I don't send texts and am not about to start now.

In my work I had to call customers often. In the last few years I learned to avoid calling without previous notice, especially to younger people.
Many many years ago, before cellphones, I was in a meeting with a guy to discuss some administrative procedure. In the middle of the meeting his phone rang and he took the call for a couple of minutes. When he hung up he said something like "I don't know why we are used to give priority to people who phone over people who bother coming here". I remember being surprised at the comment because it was something that could happen all the time. Of course those were the days when people used secretaries to filter the calls. Things have obviously changed. And businesswise I think for the better.
Nowadays, a cellphone is a extremely personal item, and I understand that younger people find rude and intrusive to get a call. It is just a step below visiting without previous notice, something most of us only would do with the closest circle.

You choose to acknowledge or ignore a call, no difference with a text. You can choose to answer the door or not because the notification device you install on the door (doorbell, knocker) is there to announce a visitor. Meanwhile, in most social actual face to face scenarios, pubs, restaurants, barbecues etc, your rules of etiquette politeness is constantly ,blatantly ignored while you check social media and read/write texts. What a world.

Do they have cellphones in Greece? Cellphones ? Who calls them cellphones anymore? Yes, amazingly, Greece has some modern technology, hence being able to post on here. It also has a society that actually promotes human interaction. It thrives and actually expects you to visit, share a coffee and just say hi.
