I was only thinking about her request show the other day. I absolutely loved her, she had a passion for music that shone through.
I will miss her.

She always seemed a bit of a bandwagon jumper to me, but now's probably not the time to say too much about that. She was very important as the first major female radio dj in the uk and had an interesting history (working at Apple in the 60s etc.)

She was a serious trailblazer back in the 60s, but...yeah, lost that pretty quickly I suppose. Used to enjoy her Sunday night R1 shows when I was a teen.
RIP

Around 1980, my mate Billy wanted to go abroad for some reason or other, and I agreed to flat and job-sit for him for two or three weeks. He had a flat - well, a large room really, bith bijou bath and kitchen - in a Georgian Terrace near Seven Dials in Brighton, and supplemented his income as a lifeguard on the beach (NB I wasn't sitting THAT job) by pearl-diving at a Creperie (called Cripes! IIRC). As well as the washing up, he - and therefore I - was also responsible for prepping and serving the side-salads that came with every order.
Annie N was a regular customer there. According to Bill, she knocked back the wine with more enthusiasm than she displayed for the crepes, a trait that even more pronounced in her (then?) husband/partner, Binky Baker, he of the horridly heinous single Toe Knee Black Burn...
Mr Baker was a squabbling, bellicose drunk, apparently, but was tolerated becase of his partner's celeb status. Now would be the time for me to relate how I encountered them both at the restaurant, but they didn't turn up any of the 15 or so nights I did there. Yes, it's another of my (not quite/secondhand) brushes with celebrity, and probably a pointless anecdote, but I never heard her on the wireless - Radio 1, just say No, kids - and only saw her on OGWT a few times, so its the best I've got. RIP
