I love the Wedding present. Great album that, i have the George Best bag it initially came with.
Might give it a spin later.

Is the caveat that YOU like it, John?
I didn't hate it. It sounded like a mashup of Joy Division and The Housemartins.

First proper gig I saw was Marillion.(I know this is a bit of a twist on JC's intended thing of posting songs, but..)
Can't think of much more embarrassing than that. Dragged along by a couple of mates, but that's no excuse.
Redeemed myself somewhat, in that the next two were The Jesus and Mary Chain and Johnny Thunders, but still.... Marillion. Fish. The 'Fugazi' Tour
Dearie me...

Btw, that Wedding Present tune is fine.
Of it's time. Owes a debt to the Modern Lovers and Velvets, but in a good way.
Was never a fan as such, but as a Peel show listener in the 80s, this was pretty standard fare. A lot worse out there.

No, just the amount of love for the Wedding Present! Maybe not love, exactly, but more affection than they usually get here.
They were excellent live - saw them at Newcastle Riverside shortly after the release of George Best and they blew the roof off.

Not sure I can post something everyone will hate, because of Jimmy and Dayo, but I will go out on a limb and say that I genuinely think this early LPD demo may be the greatest song ever written:

And if you just want to laugh at me, I do also love this:
