I enjoyed it. It could have been shorter. DiCaprio and his downward pointing lips are off putting. It has that seventies golden age feel in places too. Great casting. I enjoyed DiCaprio but he felt like the least well cast.

I've felt that way about every Scorsese movie he's been in.
don't get me wrong, I think he's a monster talent. I've never thought "wow! nobody else could have done that role" not even once.

I can't face another lengthy Scorcese movie, to be honest. The good will I had towards him was drained out of me by The Departed and Wolf of Wall Street. I'm unconvinced by post-millenial Marty.

KotFM is a powerful film, with amazing acting across the board and an acute attention to detail. (I have less issues with Leo's performance..) Yes, it needed some creative editing to knock it down to 160 minutes from the 206. Even with this bloat, the story felt involving throughout and far more focused than Oppenheimer, which I rated lower.

I thought those two films in particular were drawn out to the point of exhaustion. I was very ready for both to finish about an hour before they actually did.
I didn't have such problems with The Irishman, for what it's worth.

I’m still getting my mind around this one (watched three nights ago). I suppose there’s some bloat, but I’m good with that. The themes it pulls at are deep enough to justify the time spent marinating it.
Maybe I’ve just recently turned a corner with Scorsese. I’ve always ‘liked’ his movies. Now I feel like I might sorta ‘get’ them. In this case, he’s telling a specific story about a historical event, but he’s also telling a larger story about institutional racism, and how it is perpetuated.
I think it’s among his best.
