someone on CaB described the band as 'ersatz Kravitz', which gave me a big laugh (probably the only one I'll get today, actually - going in to teach TWO new Ukrainian 'cohorts' online soon, hard work)

Yes, that's right. Just finished with the first lot. No, it's not the war, really. It's that there are 20 of them, low level, different characters (needless to say), and some haven't had experience of online classes before. It's the whole 'classroom management' aspect, which is difficult enough in a physical classroom, but more difficult when the whole thing is conducted via Zoom. Bringing up slides, managing breakout rooms, muting/unmuting students, dealing with difficult questions (sometimes inaudible because of bad tech), dealing with silence (you often get one when you actually want the opposite  ). You both know this kind of thing well, I think. Anyway - I'll be finished with all of this by the end of November, so I should have a quiet month after that. And then possibly China in 2025. |
