Put your gems here.
I'll start with the much more sassy Dorothy Dandridge version of Cow Cow Boogie

Billy Eckstein's big band be-bop. Dexter Gordon and Gene Ammons in a proto-rock & roll sax battle.

Anyone else get the impression that young Gash was forever getting clips around the ear at school?

My mom and dad were both born in the late '20s so big band and that era were staples around our house. My mom was one of the original Bobby Soxers for Sinatra and saw him in his prime in San Francisco. The Ink Spots were one of their favorite groups and they'd dance around the living room when they'd put on one of their records. This is one of my favorites. They have some great songs with Ella Fitzgerald around that time if people are interested.

From 19-fucking-40, a gorgeous slice of music. When those pounding drums come in it just gets even better.

Since no-one is going to get it in my lyrics quiz, I can safely put this one from 1943 out there: Hoagy on music, voice, piano and celeste, words by Johnny Mercer, including one of the greatest rhyming couplets ever at around 1.25
