Asparagus for a curry and the mushrooms for a soup out of those (are they actually vegetables, though?) surely, the other way round?

Eggplants especially, a bit of moussaka always hits the spot.

Grilled asparagus is a thing of beauty.
Eggplant is very versatile, but I find it a bit 'meh' whenever I have it. It's like tofu in that sense.
I love mushrooms. A big pile of sauteed mushrooms plopped on top of a nice steak (sorry Skope) is my idea of heaven.

I'm interested in this 'grilled asparagus' business. You really just stick it under the grill for a couple of minutes and serve?

Mushrooms - 10/10 Chanterelles and oyster mushrooms are probably my favourites. I use them in everything and I'm never bored of them. They rule.
Asparagus - 9/10 Best when still crunchy rather than mushed into oblivion like it's served in most places I've been to. Its texture is nice and its flavour is incredible.
Aubergine - 9/10 Again they are often massacred by most restaurants but when prepared properly they are delicious. I find roasting them the best.
Pepper - 8/10 I really enjoy them sliced raw and using them to dip into something and I love roasting them but aside from something like a vegetable chilli I don't really like them mixed with other food.
Beetroot - 5/10 I have nothing against beetroot but I don't go out of my way for it.
Artichokes - 5/10 Not a big fan although I don't mind them when mixed into other things.

After 18 months of soul searching and reflection, I have changed my vote from aubergine to asparagus

Being anti brussel sprouts is acceptable in children BUT NOT in adults, where it is an indicator of crude and unsophisticated tastes.

I'm interested in this 'grilled asparagus' business. You really just stick it under the grill for a couple of minutes and serve? Grill pan on stove/outdoor grill, they turn/cook quickly. Broiler is also fine, but grilling imparts a specific flavor (finished with a splash of lemon).

Northern California by the coast is great place to grow artichokes. I hate artichokes. Just sayin'.
