Great but rarely played now.
It's a hell of a lot better than II though.

Can't agree with him - they were shit from beginning to end - at least, to be fair, the ones I actually half-listened to.

He's right to single it out but there are better on the three or four LPs that came after.
Have you heard this version?

So not all of you have had the chance to listen to later album remaster playbacks at Olympic Studios in Barnes *cough* but the musicianship and the arrangement ... You're not worthy.

A stunning album.
"Your Time Is Gonna Come" is my least favorite thing on it! (still pretty good, though) [edit: actually, I might take it over "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" these days - basically like it, but it pretty much does the same quiet/LOUD thing over and over for seemingly ever and I lose patience/tune out after a while.]

I'll go along with "better than II." That's the one I mostly don't care for. But " Good Times, Bad Times" is such a dynamic opener. It promises greater things than the rest of it delivers.
I do agree with G that the "heavy blues" (by which I assume he means the more lugubrious jams rather than stuff like GT,BT) is what they did worst. Sadly it was in the air at the time. They do beat (for example) Humble Pie, mind...

I unabashedly adore BIGLY and all its "Baby"s.
