I saw that the US venues for this upcoming tour are a LOT bigger than what he's played in the past.
And, yeah, I paused for a minute to think "That seems a little cavernous and impersonal for HIS thing."

I've seen him in large and cavernous venues and I say au contraire. He's able to connect in these venues, both with the crowd at the front and those at the rear. Especially so when he can touch people (literally) at the front and even get them on stage.

Especially so when he can touch people (literally) at the front and even get them on stage. He’s changed a lot in his shows in recent years- i’d guess since he lost his son. I’ve seen him 6 or 7 times and especially the communication with his audience improved drastically over the years.

Well, have a good look at this: if it's saying anything, it's saying 'THIS IS THE SECOND COMING' (rofl) and people talk about these gigs being 'religious experiences' and so forth. It sounds like bullshit, but no more than most of that 'rock and roll changed my life' stuff sounds like bullshit. I think the audience bring a LOT to these events, and I imagine it'll be pretty charged. For all my/our reservations about NC, I'm really looking forward to it. Just as long as I can sit down for most of it

The new MOJO has a major Cave feature based around what they say are his 50 greatest songs.
Here's the top 10:
1. The Mercy Seat 2. Into My Arms 3. From Her To Eternity 4. Tupelo 5. The Ship Song 6. Red Right Hand 7. (Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For? 8. Mutiny In Heaven 9. Straight To You 10. Ghosteen

Sadly:
“As a teenager, I was a big English progressive rock fan. Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, Yes, Emerson, Lake And Palmer – I loved that stuff. I still do. To this day, Robert Fripp and David Gilmour are giants to me.”
but comically:
“There I am, sitting on the floor of my flat in Notting Hill, sun streaming through the window (maybe), feeling good, with a talented and beautiful young singer for a girlfriend, when the phone rings. I pick up the phone and it’s Polly. ‘Hi,’ I say. ‘I want to break up with you.’ ‘Why?!’ I ask. ‘It’s just over,’ she says. I was so surprised I almost dropped my syringe.

I love that number 10. "Best pick a recent one for the top 10, hadn't we? Yeah. Was Ghosteen a track, too ... ok, go with that."
The Friend Catcher has to be top 2, surely?

Thank God! for the interpretative dance version by Boris and the Teletubbies, it makes the album sufferable.

From Nick's Red Hand Files... We tried to make it work but, in the end, with so many things about 2021 remaining unpredictable, including no certainty on whether we would be able to deliver the large scale arena show that we wanted to — and in the way that we wanted to — we felt we had to make the decision to cancel, at least for now. "large scale arena show"

Yeah, I know. I still wanted to see him. That Copenhagen film got me all excited.

Last week, on Friday I believe, Nick Cave's latest album has been put up on Spotify.
Better than Ghosteen but frankly, it doesn't really grab me anymore.
