yes, I really want to hurt him. well, not anymore. all water under the bridge. never liked it much. his brief reign as a fashion plate certainly didn't help.

A LOT of what I heard and generally disliked from this period now sounds like great pop music, much to my genuine surprise ('Safety Dance', 'Too Shy', 'Give It Up'). This...I don't know. I like some of what they did, but there's something a little too polished about this one. There's only so many RIM SHOTS a man can take

Yeah, never liked it, though I did enjoy some of their subsequent hits. (And I thought George made for a great fashion plate!)

My favourite part is that gorgeous intro - I wish the whole record was like that. It's frothy and lightweight, but likeable enough and George's honeyed vocal gives it a soulful quality (whether the track deserves it is another question). I vote hit.

I'd already bought the first two singles on 12", so this was a no-brainer for me, bought it the week of release. I know what they turned into - Karma Chameleon, Ye Dogs! - but they were a decent band that liked to stretch out on the 12" versions, while George's light tenor was right up my street. He was a great interviewee, too, back then, pre-heroin, with a wonderful line in camp. So I voted hit.

A hit from me. Not the kind of thing I'd buy myself, but it's in the top-tier of tunes you'd want to hear if you're forced to listen to local radio.

Always liked most of their singles. George has a lovely and unique voice. This one, the moody, melancholy yearning works. Sure, it's not my usual thing, but if it came on the radio, I wouldn't immediately shut it off. (Unlike some other mega popular 80s fare)
