A goes nowhere for me. A tepid choice. I’m not much of a fan of the Gaye track either, but it wins handily here.

I'm already predisposed to dislike a band with that name, and there's basically no other reason for A to exist than to earn it.
I'd probably vote for B if it was Billy Idol or late-period Pink Floyd, but it's peak period Marvin Gaye, and one of his best singing performances ever to boot.
I find it hard to imagine a bigger mismatch, but you never know. I look forward to hearing something better than B, and dread anything worse than A.

Oooh naming yourself after Charlie Manson, how transgressive darling!! I expected A to be grim and it was even worse. Woeful.
This is a long way from my favourite Marvin tracks; it sounds too over-egged in a preachy kind of way. Even so we're unlikely to see such a gulf in quality in one tie in the whole competition.

I'm not fussed about either tho'. A is like your bipolar schoolmate's band and B is a great artist on his lunch break.

The Gaye track is ok, but nothing special. The Spahn thing is pretty groovy.

Oooh, a bit of a conundrum. Obscure post-punk pushing above its weight or a mid-tier track from the Prince himself.
I was going to go for Marvin but that track seriously drags on. It should have been an open goal but A nicks the vote.

B- if A was named the Warren Spahn ranch, it may have had a chance.

A is from one of the definitive lost classics of American alt-rock, and probably the best track from the album. That kind of militaristic drumline with overlapping vocal lines, it'll do it for me every time. The guitar and vocals just seem to wrap around each other over and over, it's entirely hypnotic.
B is entirely not my thing, and the sort of thing I've already heard enough of in this cup.

A was probably a hit in Guantanamo. B seems to be done in some extra time at the studio that was already paid for, so let's use it. Lucky match for

From the comments i thought A would be the aural equivalent of eating Ratsak It's not that bad, and i actually enjoyed it ok. The drumming has energy, and the layered vocals are quite engaging. But it doesn't stand out too much from a lot of other post-punk except for its obscurity. B is Marvin Gaye in extended gospel mode, and while it's not a personal fave it does what it does very well and wins here. B
