B just makes me want to do a little vomit in my hand.
A for the shug, but be careful in future rounds

A
So much funkier than the Brothers Johnson version.

Well, at least Shuggie isn't singing about freakin' baseball...Nothing against it, but prefer the feel of Burial...Interesting choice from an excellent album ("Ghost Hardware" might have been too obvious) Vote B

Has A been round the cup block one too many times..yeah probably. It's probably the last time it can be used and it may not even get away with it this time. It's utterly wonderful of course, as light on its feet as a bright spring day*
I've tried with this hauntology stuff, but I find much of it like this - atmospheric in a slightly morbid way, but too abstract for me to really care. There's nothing tangible there to really engage with.. It's "interesting" I suppose.
A
* Note to Rayge: Yeah I know that's a terrible mixed metaphor, but no ones paying me for this stuff!

Well, A might be the least original cup pick yet, and it's not even something I find particularly interesting in the first place. It's alright, pleasant enough, could do without the sleigh bells, but doesn't set my undergarments alight.
I was concerned that Burial might suffer from being too obvious a pick, though that's obviously gone out of the window here. The one mainstream big gun I pull out of the bag, and it squares up against BCB-manna. I think this was the absolute pinnacle of Burial's output, and he's since struggled to find a direction to head in. This sounds like my memories of lying half-awake half-asleep at 6am with my head pounding after a late night out, head echoing with vague bass pulses and half-remembered snatches of conversations. It's a thing of majestic beauty. If anyone has some time on their hands, you could do worse than read Simon Reynolds essay on "Why Untrue is the most important Electronic Album of the century so far". Or you could just listen to the album. Which is genuinely great.

I kept waiting for B. To get going. I don’t think it ever really did. Maybe that’s what I like about it. I like Shuggie’s vocal on the other but it doesn’t really do too much for me.

Closest I've come to abstaining.
If A had picked anything else from that album, I might have voted for it. But not only is the "original of a familiar cover" a well-worn BCB gambit, we've even had that one numerous times. It's great, but there's no magic to it the 85th time.
I find B pretty tough to connect with, but it's at least somewhat challenging.

The best thing I can say about A is it's just not my thing. At all. I'll stop there.
I've heard B a billion times so it's not showing me anything new but I don't regret hearing it again. Like a spectral reminder of old club days, wandering around Wandsworth at 1 in the morning feeling slightly out space and time. Utterly sublime.

Good match. A is lucky I haven't gotten sick of hearing it yet, but then why would I - It's melodic and beautiful. Given a slightly closer opponent though I may have voted against it, but B isn't quite there. Not that there aren't elements about it I liked, because there are; the hypnotic clicks and crackles, the warm female vocals, those are enjoyable and might have made me pick it in another match. But it's just a bit too ethereal and wispy to win here against a song as strongly melodic and groovy as A.
