Really? There's not much money in Greece. When it comes to record prices they just pay silly money. There is a small shop in Zante sells vinyl. Most of it looks like it fell off the back of an with army tank during WW2. The prices? Simon & Garfunkel Bridge over trouble album fifth or sixth pressing with no inner sleeve - nothing! Best grade a generous fair thirty fuckin euros. I said to the geezer , mate , in the UK two quid from the charity shop in the UK . He takes me to the computer and fires up Discogs and picks a US first pressing sees it's £32 quid in UK and that's that. I tell him his copy isn't that version and it's, well fucked. He doesn't care. Does he sell it though?

To be honest G , some stuff never moves and the majority turns over quickly. The Beatles, Zep and the pistols are all priced at top dollar and they all sell. He sells turntables that look like they were pulled from a skip. Records and cars cost a fortune here.

A lot of those bands that got a bit destroyed by punk in the UK, maintained huge fan bases over there. I used to chat to Theo about it.

Strangely enough I am yet to meet an Aphrodite's child fan! But you are right that's their bag.The radio stations are frankly unlistenable.

Massive prog fans in Greece, yeah. I noticed that in Thessaloniki - quite a few very good record shops but stuffed full of smelly shit like Jethro Tull and ELP

I just sold this garage 45 that I found in a Salvation Army a few years back - It went to someone in the U.K. for ridiculous money!

Is that the Beefheart song?

No, it’s an original. A Beefheart cover might have had a better chance of staying in the collection.

Sent the Elvis 1968 comeback DVD box to Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago and the parcel came back to me last Friday with a 'RETURN TO SENDER' sticker on it. No idea why. So I've had to send it off again. That's £14 in postage alone. Hardly worth it.

Some selling sites pay this tax themselves (Etsy and Ebay do) and give you a code for this when you book the courier online ( which is the only way of doing it..the post office still don't have a means of doing it when you try and post in person). I don't know if discogs does this though.

Have an old vinyl copy of Unknown Pleasures that I want to sell - but I can't work out exactly when it came out, and where, so I can't list it. It might be a first edition - although I doubt it - but it's got all the features of the first listed under the title on the site (apart from 'textured sleeve').

I made the mistake years ago in putting my CD's in slim cases. In many cases, I no longer have the back cards. Now I can't sell them. I've given a ton of them away and have a tote full of ones I know I'll never play again sitting on a shelf in my garage. I gave away the vast majority of my vinyl to friends when I moved out of New York 30 years ago, when you couldn't get more than a buck or two for them.

I think it all depends on what's cut into the run-out groove. If It has STEP followed by a couple of alphanumerics, it's a first pressing. I thought I had a first issue, though it looks like it's a later pressing from 1979: www.discogs.com/release/9531023-Joy-Division-Unknown-Pleasures

The problem is, what's on the runout isn't supposed to be there when I look at the sleeve, if you get me. I wonder if it's a Brazilian edition or some such. Anyway it's a bit of a mess so it's probably not worth a whole lot anyway. I probably booted it across the room a couple of times.
