My son are watching Lilyhammer as I showed in Now Viewing. A line that's had me laughing is Steven Van Zandt's mafia character kept calling this Norwegian kid, Embryo, instead of Embrik, his name.

Watching a lot of Carol Burnett on the youtube. Very funny, i only really heard of her from Tina Fey talking about her. The duo of Conway and Korman is hilarious. The elephant story is as funny as people make out. Had me in stitches.

Brilliant! Did you ever read the Henry Root letters? I suspect the sender of the letter to the BBC was a bit of a fan.

Last night, I was watching Jim Gaffigan's latest stand up special and he had some pretty good jokes about the UK
Why don't the English say "the" before "hospital?" Because they're dicks. This kind of sophisticated humor is over British folks' heads, but is funny to Americans.

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't.
There's a difference in meaning but this probably isn't the place 🙂

Words like 'prison', 'university', 'hospital' can be preceded by 'the' or not, with a subtle difference in meaning. Without 'the', you're talking about the idea in general. With 'the' (which is less common in British Eng), you're referring more to the place. It's easy, really. It works with 'bed', too. When would you say 'he's in the bed'? It's possible, but not common. Helps if you work this stuff out for yourselves, you know.
