we can't have a discussion about race until we clean out the garage, run a triathlon and balance the budget. then and only then will it be time to discuss these matters (provided the planets are lined up properly) I'm busy that weekend.

Take this in for a second. I was listening to world famous basketball player Vince Carter say on TV this morning that he takes his ID and cell phone with him when he's taking the garbage to the curb or picking up the mail because he's afraid of what might happen if a copy happens to be driving by his house at the same time.

Where is "POC" coming from? The buzz word efficiency of it is concerning. As it seems only whites would use it to speak/identify nonwhites non specifically. Designed at a PC convention, I think.

I heard a good quote from Atlanta Hawks' head coach, Lloyd Pierce.
I was born a Black man and I'll die a Black man. I don't want to die because I'm a Black man.

But hey, in progressive politics it is perfectly fine to self identify as someone else!

There was another one a while back. A woman who was a black "activist" or summat who was actually white and had been getting away with it for years.
But then, if a man can be a woman because he feels like one why can't a white person be black if they feel like that too? I mean that's their logic.
Hilarious.

Benjamin Butterworth is an ex-editor of Pink news and a loud voice for Trans issues.
It later emerged that he "self-identified as a black person" to take a spot at a course reserved for a black person due to the fact that his mum had a relationship with a black man. He felt that he could identify as a black person simply down to that fact.
The simple fact is that if you provide special privileges due to things like race, gender or whatever, people of all sorts will do what it takes to get those privileges. The principle of providing privilege to people who are thought to be "disadvantaged" is without doubt a noble one, but as always, these things have unintended consequences.
On a slightly analogous note, I recently found out that Tunbridge Wells is the epicentre of dyslexia in the UK. We have an extremely competitive schools system here due to the fact that we have Grammar schools, which means that there is a particular level of intensity in doing the 11+ and getting into a very good school. Now, Dyslexia is an area where, if *correctly* diagnosed, pupils can have special dispensation with regard to things like time in exams and other classroom privileges like a laptop. You cannot get a diagnosis of Dyslexia on the NHS - it has to be done privately and costs upwards of £1 to £2K. Is it any surprise then that Dyslexia is apparently so prevalent here, because people have the money to spend on a diagnosis and get those all-important privileges?

If you'd seen me dance to James Brown in my prime you would've accepted me unequivocally as a black dude. OUTTA SIGHT!
