The woman in the foreground isn't in the painting, is she? How many women do you see in the painting? Before he edited his post, he had this picture up:

I like the image with the woman in it, It really shows how the audience gets to almost step into that living room. I just discovered Eyvind Earle for myself after seeing this painting. Of course it turns out he's been hiding in plain site as the main artist behind Disney's Sleeping Beauty. I can't stop looking at pictures of his.

The doc I watched last night showed this thing hanging (in the Tate?) and it looks pretty big. I looked the thing up online - didn't know it was one of his most famous pieces. I like it and I'd love to see it. I know Hockney is still active - doing his art on an iPad, believe it or not. But what happened to Ossie Clark? It's been in The Tate for as long as I can remember. I first saw it in the late 70s. I think the Tate bought it pretty much as soon as he painted it. I seem to remember Ossie Clark had a grim end, he lost all his money and was murdered.

This photo is exerting a strange fascination on me. It has a real "future past" aura about it. Also, the colours are very like that Robert Rental cover in round 5 of the cup!

Not my cup of tea. I like the Hayward Gallery. And the Southbank generally. But no.
