What on Earth is that man doing, flying around in the exotic-looking sky?Is it an ‘End of Days’ dystopian sci fi drama? He looks strange, like, kneeling. ( I like how it makes Blackpool look interesting and sexy)

Andy Votel - who some of you might know through his 70s comps and reissues - collects old Polish/Czech/Hungarian matchbox art, and he has a special Instagram account for his finds. www.instagram.com/votelmatchstamps/

I've become a bit obsessed with Marianne Starck, she's become my favourite 20th century designer.

Love the typewriter! Shame it's out of stock.
I might order some of those KOSMOS (KOCMOC?) pencils.

There's a lot I love about this photo - the fact it transports you to a world you know very well but don't know at all, the reality of it, the mundanity of a woman looking fed up standing on a London bus compared to the silent glamour in the photo on the Sunday Pictorial; the familiar destinations listed on old-style font; the bus conductor years ago standing on the back of the bus as I've seen them standing for decades; the repeated and echoed curves of the shiny new-but-old bus - the curve of the "dangerously" open stairs at the back having been brought back on the latest version of London double-deckers; London reflected in the window at the back but also poking out at the top - I think that building is the Hippodrome at Leicester Square - all of which is familiar but not. Love it. From here: www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/casparius-london-p13372From which there are other great photos. Like the one of boys having a scrap in Trafalgar Square.
