I'm still not sure what gaslighting means, even though I see the word everywhere these days. Have you never seen the movie, G, or do you just not see how it applies here?

This was the scene at the park near my house yesterday. Unbelievable. I can somewhat sympathize, a lot of young people live in condos and apartments and don't have easy access to open space, but this is just pure selfishness and is probably going to set us back months in the fight to "flatten the curve".

Tanks with water cannons. That'd sort them.

Barnard Castle is a beautiful town, by the way. Visited by Dickens, Turner, Wordsworth, Defoe and more. Not even a pandemic could keep you away.

The context is convincing people that breaking the rules is fine in a certain case, to people who've been trusting them and who haven't seen their families in months.
That's the story here, for me.

It's a long time since I've seen the movie. I did look up the term a few months ago because I was seeing it used so much, but I've since forgotten what it means!

So gaslighting means persuading people to break the rules?

No, it could mean trying to justify a PM advisor to do so. Is he really this important?

I'd put money on him stepping down before the day's out. There's already too much talk about it now.
He's nothing to lose by resigning anyway - he can still get on the blower to Blobby Pants every day.

Boris gave him the green light to go. Nailed on.
Every person who's been fined can now potentially appeal on "childcare" grounds, I'm guessing?
Fucking unbelievable.

Gary Gibbon just shut down with the lamest 'explanation' yet.
It doesn't look good and there's a lot of anger, but....on they trot.

I'm just going to go out and get laid tonight. It's my 'instinct', you know.

Well, what it's meant to mean is manipulating people into believing they are losing their reason, but in recent years it seems to have mutated into people using double standards, bvreathtaking hypocritical sophistry and generally taking the piss, which is why I mentioned the context.

Are they really just going to carry on and hope it blows over? I mean, I know we've got 4 years of this lot yet, which is an awful lot of time. They've been the most incompetent government in Europe, leading to over 60,000 deaths so far, and the only time they've put any kind of concerted effort into anything is to defend a man who flagrantly broke the rules of lockdown. Is it possible to ride this one out? I don't get why Boris is supporting him when he clearly knows he was also in Castle Barnard on a separate excursion. It makes no sense not to come clean now.
