Lucrecia was on the front cover of The Wire last month, and I didn't pay much attention. She was also on this month's freebie Wire Tapper CD, and I didn't pay much attention till the third or fourth listen. Now I'm kinda addicted to this album, low-key abstract beautiful songs, really distinctive to my ears.

Konono No1 and Kasai Allstars bods joined by hip indie types such as Deerhoof to create something surprisingly good.

It's not a thread I've ever followed -sorry. (nothing to do with a disinterest in new music, more a disinterest in what people are playing. I very rarely posted to the similar thread on BCB).

Seems to have been ages since I binged on Ghedalia Tazartes. Such a unique voice in the wilderness, a giant talent who's sorely missed.

Sounds like Anohni doing some abstract ambient choral work. Beautifully constructed.

I've been listening to Congotronics International's "where's the one" ever since I saw DF mention them in a thread of year's best. I still had DEEZER at the time. I sampled a few of theirs - this one REALLY clicked. the first words out of my mouth were "sounds like King Sunny Ade by way of Deerhoof" then I took a closer look. I guess I thought King Sunny because of the instruments. I obviously thought Deerhoof because they are one of a HOST of participants. I'll go back and give that other stuff another go. this is RIGHT up my alley. some very unusual grooves. very enthusiastic. absolutely intoxicating. I'm far from being tired of it.

Bloody hell, I must be losing my touch, no-one else has ever paid attention. It really is a big bag of fun though, the kind of joyous sculptured chaos you just don't find that often.

I know this is distinctly and definitively NOT ME, but I was loading up some of Ms Thang's late husband's stuff on to discogs and found a NM vinyl copy of an album featuring a three piece on drums, didgeridoo and FX, so I checked it out on youtube, and found it very agreeable.
