Yeah a shame his passing, but Orbison was under utilized in the Wilburys, you have that voice available and the other knuckleheads still sing their own tunes. Del would have probably been under used.

Well, I couldn't have predicted this one!
And I had no idea Marty and Victor Feldman were brothers!

And I had no idea Marty and Victor Feldman were brothers! They aren't. They were born three months apart in different areas of London.

Penny Rimbaud of Crass winning a Beatles art competition and choosing Shostakovich and Mingus albums instead.

Fleetwoods: Mr Blue
Supreme Court case of Troxel v. Granville, which deals with the visitation rights of grandparents, and particularly the television coverage on Jan. 12, 2000, much of which featured one of the plaintiffs, “a bald, stocky, tight-lipped man in glasses” named Gary Troxel? Then age 60, Mr. Troxel had formed a vocal trio in 1958 called the Fleetwoods, whose “Come Softly to Me” and “Mr. Blue” topped the pop charts in both the U.S. and England. His son had killed himself in 1993, and Mr. Troxel and his wife would go on to lose their bid to gain access to the two grandchildren, who were being raised by their mother.

I got "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" by Curtis Lee stuck in my head, despite not having heard it in a long time, and I got to thinking: the bassman is the hook in that, right? Curtis Lee could be singing a senate transcript, for all anybody cares - but he gets his name on the label and on the charts, and who knows who the bassman is?
So, Wikipedia being my friend, I looked it up. The vocal backing on that record was provided by The Halos, who had had the great doo wop hit "Nag". (They also sang on Barry Mann's "Who Put The Bomp" and Gene Pitney's "Every Breath I Take".)
The Halos' bassman was the late Arthur Crier. He wrote "Nag". His son played bass guitar in the funk band GQ, and his grandson was Keith Sweat.
Arthur Crier, we salute thee.

Cheers Charlie. I'm sure you know, but for those that don't, PLAE was one of Uncle Phil' pre-Philles productions.
Nag, though, I never heard (of) before. Cheers.

As we were eating dinner last night, B mentioned that she really liked the local garlic that we had recently bought that had purple skin, at which point I started singing Lloyd Cole's "Perfect Skin" with the new swapped-out words. She'd never heard of the song, so I played it for her, but I don't think she cared for it that much.
