9:49 Carlisle to Glasgow. For the film festival. But I can't imagine I'll stay awake for today's films (The G and Tell Me A Riddle) because I had to get up at 6 to get the bus to Carlisle because all trains from Workington were cancelled due to a bridge collapsing near Flimby.
Looking forward to the Billy Connolly thing tomorrow.

Well done young man. I take it the local Hogwarts is desirable ? Thanks - yes, it's an outstanding school. The equivalent of a fee paying school, but state funded. Saves upwards of £25k a year on fee I suspect - not that we'd be ever able to afford such a thing.

Just had a class where I was shit, the students were shit, and the materials were shit. Sometimes you might get one of those, occasionally two. But this was a perfect fucking storm. Everything was terrible and it was an absolute waste of time for all concerned.

Ah mate, I feel for ya. Every teacher has had a day like that, so don't sweat it too much - dust yourself off, treat yourself to a cannoli and move on up.

I just went off on a bit of a rant to my Ukrainian students about how explicit grammar lessons are a waste of time and how English grammar is better acquired than actually taught, and once I'd finished they just (apart from one or two who are actually English teachers themselves, and who were laughing) fell silent. I really shouldn't have gone on like that - it wasn't at all helpful and was kind of boring too. And a bad way to finish the lesson. Ah well.

www.brooktaverner.co.uk/summer-clearance/clearance-suits/shakespeare-russet-washed-cotton-needle-cord-suit-a.htmlI bought this russet needlecord suit for work back in September (when it was £200 reduced from £400) with a white shirt and turquoise tie and wore it to a Bar Mitzvah up in Camden Town last night. I had around 10 people come up to me and say "where did you get your suit" whilst walking along the street; women saying "how dashing" on opposite sides of escalators. When you get to 50, you're pretty much invisible to everyone. Go and buy one and stand out!
