seeing as today is the 285th anniversary of the Great Man's birth... He designed the original Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland, the second iron bridge in the world, for a bit of pointless trivia. |

Because he came up in the Cup, I want to post a little-known Gene Pitney track that is both ahead of and behind its time, sonically weird, borderline offensive (even back then a few Muslim authorities made their views known), as batshit crazy in its way as Lightning Strikes, and a perfect illustration of why I remain fascinated with the way American popuar music was going before the Beatles ruined everything.

He sounds like he has always been about 55 yrs old, working as a college professor Incidentally, did you see the Carole King doc (again) on BBC2 last night? What a talent! |

Found out that Bill Dogget was born on this day in 1906. This was released over two sides of a single in the early 1960s, and rocks like a bastard.
