You have access to a time machine. Would you like to live in the 1920s, with the growth of Art Deco, cinema really beginning to hit its stride, the glamour of the jazz age or today with...er.. lots to watch on Netflix?

Rather stark choices, the present has proved so disappointing it has been reduced to watching Netflix?

D’you think there’ll be a resurgence of Flappers once this current pandemic is over?

D’you think there’ll be a resurgence of Flappers once this current pandemic is over? I hope so! I think it’ll be similar to the 1920s in that regard. Everybody had just gone through a two-year worldwide pandemic, and now it was time to go buck wild!

During the 20s my grandfather fought with the original IRA against Black and Tans in the West, whilst the other was a collector who literally rode shotgun for a bootlegger. Neither had college options, nor did their wives, who might have felt a bit imprisoned by the hard work of raising large broods (12 and 14 children respectively) despite Art Deco movie houses. WWII, ironically, actually gave them all some opportunities.

More romanticising from the William Morris set.
The 2020s might be the boring here-and-now, but at least we've got inside loos, decent supermarkets and TVs.
Sorry to be so prosaic.
