All the stuff about 'fat-shaming', attacks on comedians 'punching down', Americans telling others 'don't judge', or the old 'haters gonna hate' line - it's got to the point where calling another human being either 'ugly' or 'stupid' is just not on. Right?
Of course I wouldn't feel desperately sad if you didn't hear people attacked in these ways - but the words still exist and always will - so if you use them, then why?

They're not words to describe a thing, action or person, they express how you feel about said thing, action or person. It isn't only beauty that's in the eye of the beholder. But 'just not on', that you should never express negative feelings about a person or action in that way, or even have feelings or make judgments about them, may be what some people believe, but that's nonsense.
It's the same principle as with deliberate insults. When people attemp to insult me, I know they are just expressing an aversion to something I said, did, or represent to them, and the language/epithets they choose to express that reveal a great deal more about them – about their personalities, thought processes, world view and vulnerabilities – than they do about me.

Well is it a case of people actually using those specific words or people going out of their way to feel insulted and accusing people of using those words when they didn't.
Example (To some people). Opinion, Encouraging people to be body positive by accepting being overweight and proud might not be all that good. Overweight people are more inclined to have heart disease or diabetes.
You're fat shaming!

Wrong.
It'll get to the stage where any criticism or judgement will be seen as being a bad thing and where will that leave us? Tolerating stupidity and ugliness.

Some are saying kids shouldn't watch peppa pig because she's too mean, especially to her da. This among other shit that over protects kids makes me think, that a large percentage of middleclass upwards kids will be like dodos. Not know danger when it's infront of them, or handle life's normal hardships like dealing with cunts in work or life. The shrinks will make a fortune. On the plus side, if this is a worldwide thing there will be no wars. Just leaders afraid of conflict and being passive aggressive to each other.

"Passive aggressive" was first coined to describe how people would express aggressive feelings, usually anger, in the workplace by deliberately failing to do things they would reasonably be expected to do, thus sabotaging other's efforts. Its now used to describe sullenness, menacing looks, sabre-rattling, silent hostility, ostracism, and any behaviour on the dissatisfied spectrum short of actual physical assault. More lost specificity, which I think is a pity.

More lost specificity, which I think is a pity. I mentioned Bartleby in the favorite characters in literature thread. In Melville's story, Bartleby simply responds to his boss's requests by saying he'd prefer not to until it drives the boss insane trying to figure out Bartleby's motives and how to get him to do something.

It's the tack Biden is taking after the Trump era. I think it's smart.

It will end up with even more guardian cut and paste articles of course. I mean wanker and cunt are go to insults for me. To be honest, if I am in any company and someone who is grossly overweight passes buy someone will always say fat bastard. In the coming years I suppose there will be another term used. A man I worked with once from Stoke was shocked too see me and two other chaps refer to each other as a cunt in that loaded magazine banter amongst us working class. He said that in Stoke if you used the term cunt in any way it was unacceptable and would guarantee a fight would ensue. To me it has actually a term of affection.more often than not.

This is a great question. Such a great question that nobody can answer it! I thought I answered them both, except in the reverse order. Summary
1) Right? No 2) Do you, and why? To express my feelings about something.

Beauty/ugly surely is in the eye of the beholder, but "stupid"?
Depends.
It can be used recklessly, for sure. But if there's one thing the last five years have really brought home for me, it's that there's some serious Critical Thinking deficiency out there. I never thought of myself as being especially good at critical thinking, but my god - there are vast quantities of hardcore, deeply committed STUPID out there.
