The Leibniz is a pretender to the throne. A teutonic aberration of rich tea biscuit and admittedly well applied chocolate. Through the odious packaging design it attempts to bring to the occasion the grandeur of Frederick the Great, yet delivers all the sickly sweet sugar crash of the 70's. Absolute nonsense. Your food snobbery won't wash here. Ray is a 100% correct in his comments. The biscuit is so good it can't be improved on. The quality of the chocolate is superb, they are the perfect thing!

Plain digestives? You disagree with the idea that everything is improved by adding chocolate, then? it had better have some chocolate on there. do you have any idea how unappetizing the word "digestive" is to an American? it makes me think of enzymes!

You'd love them John honestly! I like them but they're a bit silly. If you're like Dougie and me, you like a sit down with a big mug of coffee and a plateful of something a bit more robust.

I only bother with them about once a week, and then usually finish them in one sitting. I don't have a load constantly on the go.
I've never tried those Oreas. They look a bit too common...are they any good?

Yeah, there's a good strong cocoa flavour to the biscuit, as Guy pointed out.
Maybe some of the Americans can verify this - I think you can get a very similar cookie in the US but because they're called HYDROX they didn't really take off (sounds like chemistry). But apparently they're still made.

Common? Of course they are common, they are OREOS! My Dear Old Dad used to carry on about how Oreo was the poor man’s Hydrox. it’s always something.
