You SMEAR the glass by water drying on the glass. Therefore you need to wipe them with a tea or as they are called in the hospitality sector a BAR towel. To clean glasses you need to WIPE them so they dry without SMEARING the glass.

One thing I'm grateful to 'visiting troublemaker' G for, is the idea of making an omelette with feta and mint. This sounds nice, what kinda mint do you use? Polo mints? Silvermints?

How did Coan’s Huevos Rancheros go then?? I'm quite worried. I fear he's had a flour catastrophe.

I don't know whether to add salt. Some recipes say yes, some no.

Anyway...I followed this recipe (mainly for the salsa) www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/huevos_rancheros/in the end, everything was fine - but the tortillas didn't do what they were supposed to do when I put them in a dry pan. They just sat there. In the end I fried them. The recipe says 'golf-ball sized' balls of dough but once flattened I think they were just too thick.

I didn't, no. I have a pouch of them in the cupboard. There was too much going on already without having to deal with beans!

How did the Mexican press work. Was it worth it?

Definitely. It's kind of fun to use and it helps when making roti and other flatbreads too. I just made the dough balls too big.
That flour is good stuff too - I didn't realise the flavour of corn would be so strong. We normally use a form of wheat flour which usually has almost no taste or smell at all.

You should take up golf so you'll know how big to make the dough balls.
I'm sure you could get a used set of clubs for not too much money.

You just can't make decent Mexican food at home in this country. Well, you can, but it ain't easy. I'm going for huevos rancheros today - completely from scratch. Got the tortilla press, the Mexican flour, all the ingredients for a fresh salsa, can't get chipotle chilis easily but don't think that's a big deal. Sainsburys do jars of chipotle chilli flakes. They’ve transformed my Mexican dishes.
