Another new name to me, I like the sprightly start and the splashes of electronics, but I'm not sure if the bored singer just about recorded from 10 feet away is a great sound. The bass is nice, the drums are kicking away at pace, but that singer drags everything down for me.
Ah, we're in Creme Brulee territory here. Good old fashioned pub rock, sticky carpet Status Quo beer paunch flopping around over the tight jeans, peanuts scattered everywhere.

A has that thing, in common with much contemporary music, of sounding overworked and trying too hard. This was most evident in the cacaphoneous, frenetic beats which suffocated the whole thing. Still underneath all the clutter, there's a decent pop song there. So much for the arranging genius of Ronno - he must have been taking a snooze when this was recorded. Mouldy old cock rock which is oddly underpowered and never gets going.

A has that 90s 'throw in the kitchen sink' ethos. There is something of a song there - perhaps a bit Cocteau-ish, maybe - but they bury it under so much muck I really don't want to do the work of trying to find it.
There are dozens of Hunter songs I would take over this one, so as much as I don't want to award taking THE MOST OBVIOUS one (or maybe second to "Cleveland Rocks"), I'm still voting B.

A is a bit over busy but as G days there is some decent pop happening.
B starts poorly but it gets better as it goes, especially with the honky tonk piano bits and the guitar at the end. Of course it's going to be destroyed here, but I'd fancy a pint or two.

The galloping drums quickly started to bother me in A. I would have liked it otherwise.
The Hunter track is a stone classic, the riff and the pub piano really working with the dirty ol' devil. Irresistible charms.

I found A to be a bit exhausting to listen to. It's TOO FAST! B moves along at a much more sedate pace, but doesn't do much for me, music-wise. The lyrics are fun, though, and tip the balance.

I did not like A one bit. I can't think of anything positive to say about it. B for Christ's sake

A is just too frenetic rhythmically, which doesn't suit the detached sounding vocals at all. B is a classic...

A is quite a decent song and I don't mind the vocals but the backing track doesn't belong with it. Not Ian hunter's best offering but it does it for me

An inauspicious start to the round. A sounds like it picked the wrong suitcase from the baggage carousel and B’s not my cup of tea at all.
