Don't fix up before we come over.

I don't even know when I can move to the place, providing all this comes off! I suppose all the conveyancing takes some time.

Conveyancing will take a bit of time - your conveyancer will tell you how long.
Did you make the offer?
How are you feeling today?

Headachy, tired, sore throat. But none of these things especially bad, just irritating. Thanks for asking.
Yes - I made the offer on Monday, finally. 85k. The conveyancing should start soon, once I've completed these forms. They all said between 6 and 8 weeks, possibly less because I'm a cash buyer, but possibly more because of the current situation. So maybe these two things cancel each other out.

Thanks! Yeah, I think 85k is a steal, the economic situation has worked to my advantage.
Lots of cash still to spend, mind - conveyancing, some dampproofing, external work on the building, furniture - but it's still within my range.

Whatever happens to the market due to the Coronavirus, it will eventually come back (and it applies to the entire housing market so you're in at a level now - and having taken advantage of the situation you're in a good housing level). In the long-term it's absolutely the right thing to do. Proper security. You otherwise would be wittering a very great deal of money away on rent. And I don't think even in the worst case scenario the market value would lose out much in the short-term. You did your homework too. Sure a few minor things - most places do. You're still adding value by doing it. Absolutely the right thing with a great price, well done.

John is lucky to be able to buy the place in cash so he's safe in that regard.
