Just a 4/4 beat with a load of wailing over the top, couple of chord changes to get kids excited.
We've moved on from that for good now anyway....haven't we?

No, it is primarily the domain of mainstream FM hard/metal bands: Dirty Honey, Disturbed, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, Incubus, etc., whilst being used in punk, mainstream country, US roots. What is gone is mainstream non hard rock bands that aren't roots, country, generic/alt, even pop. It is so wide spread now it is diffused.
The 60s through 90s were also unique in/because of the British music presence, but by the end of the 90s that became very generic: Oasis, Elbow, Menswear, etc., to the point now that the UK is no longer in the conversation.

Oasis onward wasn't. The musical/symbiotic/creative conversation between the US/UK had ended.

This is a strange place to be having the conversation about the music being dead, because many here stopped listening. So did the music stop or the listener? The hostility in the Cup to new music was pathetic.

This thread has made me re-evaluate if I even know what rock music is now.
I must reflect.

Have Danny and the Juniors taught us nothing?Rock and Roll is here to stay. it will never die. it was meant to be that way. Sneelock don't know why. I don't care what people say -- Rock and Roll is here to stay.

The hostility in the Cup to new music was pathetic. I didn't see it as hostility to new music, more hostility towards people asking you to evaluate their attempts at painting.
