Going up on Saturday for a few drinks at the Lamb on Lamb's Conduit Street, first with my bro and then a few others later. Proper night out. Probably going to swing by Foyles and then a few clothes shops beforehand. Not had a decent BROWSE around the shops for AGES. A proper facking city innit.

A proper facking city innit. it's lost its appeal. the last time i visited, the destruction and gentrification made me want to cry. i've no desire to ever set foot in it again.

It's lost a lot of its magic, it's edge. I don't have the romantic attachment I once did, but you can still get that big city buzz from a night out there.

That feeling of a throng of people down St Martins Lane at 11pm on a Saturday night as people pile out from restaurants and theatres is a good one.
I too don't have the attachment I used to, but it still has something..

It really feels like it’s separate from the rest of the country now. I’ve always enjoyed it in small doses but feel no emotional connection to it and walking around it I find myself feeling quite alienated by it all. There’s no sense of real identity and given the fact that so much of the population is foreign born it feels like some kind of new breed global metropolis. Quite different to the London of old.
I will probably be visiting again before Xmas though as the lass is due to go down for work.

I find it difficult to talk about because it's a bit like talking about the world. Or all of music, or something.
I like it enough but I prefer every other European capital city I have visited (with the possible exception of Madrid and maybe Rome).

I've been to London three times, but I still don't have a real grasp on the city and don't feel like I know it at all - that's kind of a standard for most giant metropolises (metropoli?) that spread out for miles and miles I think. Hell, I live in downtown Toronto and barely feel like I know this city. There's too much to take in and no one will see it the same as anyone else, so it's almost pointless to talk about.

I love the smell of the Tube. Though it has changed a bit in most stations, every so often I get that aroma that has not changed in fifty years. Hard to describe, but if you used the Tube in the seventies you will know exactly what I mean.
