I don't see any room for doubt any more, Toby. I'm sceptical by nature but we've seen enough reliable reporting over the years now, across all continents, backed by evidence, that the planet is heating up quickly, it's a man-made problem, and we need to act quickly. It's that simple. I think anyone who dismisses the data at this late stage is not only talking out of their arse but actively fucking up our chances of saving ourselves from ourselves. Word, but you know, you just know that despite all the evidence that we will stumble around and not do enough. That proclamation from the Indian leader with his completely useless promise, wouldn't you have thrown your pram out of the window over that? It was utterly unbelievable that he saw that as aiding his immediate neighbour or his people despite the urgency. Russia and China total no show. The world's leaders minus the biggest polluter and no mention of the previous agreements that lay in tatters. We are totally fucked Johnny.

What we need is a " climate brigade" an armed faction that will blow up polluters , destroy industries with cyber attacks and occupation of industry headquarters. Oh and a festival with Ed and Adele and deffo U2.

The one subject no-one mentions with climate change is overpopulation.
That is the simple fact - cut the population and the burden on food production and resources, which drives deforestation et al, would be significantly reduced.
But you cannot in any way stop the urge to reproduce without truly tragic consequences.
I am of the belief that an overtly green government, of which there are none yet, would look at this in a serious way, which would be totalitarian in nature.

I expect you to listen to the overwhelming evidence. There's never been complete consensus on anything throughout history. You're always going to get dissenters. They're increasingly marginalised on this particular issue. Choose to focus on what they say if you will. You might regard it as healthy curiosity, a desire to see all sides, but it's probably something to do with a mildly reactionary mindset you've got. Fiddle while Rome burns, eh LQ!

However we should spend money on sea defences, ok. If the earth warms less people will die from cold temperatures, right on. He talks a lot about money. I like the old slogan "try counting your money while you cannot breathe". I am on the side of angry from Whitehaven here.

This was good. The interviewee doesn't dismiss climate change, but instead says that the way that the data is being presented to us is problematic and that some climate scientists aren't using this correctly. It's a strange one. He's a very good speaker, and he seems quite clued-up with the facts, but then there's a mixture of silliness such as the stuff about polar bears (polar bear populations aren't specifically one of the major arguments for preventing climate change), and sleight of hand where he knows he's being disingenuous. For example: Myth 2: Extreme weather conditions are on the rise - he knows this is true, but his argument is we're more resilient to them in terms of number/percentage of deaths. That people die less from them is good, but it doesn't mean that we should really accept the frequency of extreme weather events, does it? Myth 6: Cutting out meat will save the planet. His argument that if we stop eating meat we'll a)Substitute meat with milk and cheese (hmm, could that be a clever way of keeping all the cows in the equation d'ya think?) b)Spend all the money we'll save by buying veg instead of meat on more frequent plane trips. Come on, that's just him being a complete cock. What's the solution: Here, his solutions are a global carbon tax (which he admits is bollocks because it's not happening ever), and innovation, or in other words, crossing his fingers and hoping. Even worse, innovation is one of the things he's actively arguing against with myth 4 on electric cars. Innovation doesn't apepar out of nowhere, it's a gradual process which occurs when cleaner, renewable technologies start to become more popular and manufacturers increase their knowledge and look to continually provide more benefits to the consumer.

And yet Lou it still goes on. And here we are on a new board partly due and despite that poster and the circumstances. What goes on? I'm not sure what point is being made here. I think he talks about Minnie challenging Googs from time to time.
