I don't know, perhaps I'm fussy, but a compilation of Palin's old travel docs - never that great to begin with - and another reality TV doc about a hotel hardly fill me with excitement. I'll probably watch the Lennon doc, although Sky Arts docs are rarely good.

I'm pretty fussy too, but still - I don't find there are enough hours in the day to see everything I want. And I didn't even mention catch-up (iPlayer, All4 etc.) or Netflix. It's worth looking at TV guides, too.

The problem is, sometimes once you're ten minutes in to something you realise it isn't very good, and then you can't be arsed switching over or starting with something else.
You might like the Netflix series Travels With My Father, G. Jack Whitehall is a bit of a dick but his father is a gem. There's a new series set in Australia but I haven't bothered yet.

I've seen those two before and they really don't appeal to me, so I definitely won't be watching that.

If you're talking about Mystery Road then don't bother. One of the most boring crime dramas I've ever seen.

You just don't like TV very much. I often praise programmes I've watched, it's just you have to wade through a lot of dross to get to the gold. Anyway, I'm not seeing many posters agreeing with you....

TV is as good as it ever was, there's just a saturation of it now that makes people demand more.
I've been rewatching Palin's Pole to Pole on BBC 4, which I liked as a kid but I feel a definite colonial undercurrent to it now which he never fully assesses below the surface. Being reverential by Cecil Rhodes' grave, staying with white landowners, going crown green bowling in Zimbabwe, etc. It makes me realise how good Simon Reeve is in comparison. There was briefly a scene in a Bulawayo nightclub with a band playing. I would have liked to have heard more about the jit scene in Zimbabwe which produced some great music. Hey ho.
The funniest part was when he went white water rafting and he protected the camera with condoms. Why would they have those I wonder.

SNL is just safe unfunny comedy these days. Sketches seem half written or hollow.

Adele looked hot last night but her opening monologue was one of the worst (meaning rambling and pointless) I've ever seen. I watched most of a documentary on Paul Gascoigne last night but honestly couldn't make out a lot of what he was saying.

Binged on Barbarians on Netflix, half-decent German series on Arminius and the battle of the Teutoberg forest. I didn't know that Arminius's story was kept quiet for many years after WW2 because of associations with militaristic nationalism.
Watching Palin going back over his travel documentaries with some slightly nauseating eulogies from people like Joanna Lumley. I don't remember them at all to be honest, but reckon I must have watched them. The most noticeable thing to me is that age has caught up with him - he looked unnaturally young with his boyish grin for so long, so that I guess it was inevitable.
I also enjoyed Us with Tom Hollander - if only for a very elegant and lovely looking Sofie Grabol in a couple of the episodes.

Looks like she's caused a bitta palava being in a sketch about sex tourism in Africa for older ladies.
