I see BCC4 are showing 'Just a Boy's Game' tomorrow night, one of my favourite Play For Today's from the 1970s. I actually included it in the top 30 TV show lists that Penk did a few years ago. The review in the paper compares it to Mean Streets which is accurate. Make sure you watch it - essential.

I've discovered a gothed-up young Gina McKee in an early Morse.

I watched the doc on Pepe Le Frog/4Chan. I still don't really 'get' the whole thing.

I don't understand any of it. Why has it become associated with 4chan and "alt-right" types? What does it mean anyway?

Apart from football, Gardeners World, and the odd archeology/history/visual arts doco, I only watch old stuff - at my age you don't really want to make too many forward time commitments - and apart from the dozens of Law & Order SVU reruns on 5USA, that currently means Heroes and Still Game (all 60-odd episodes gone up recently, heaven) on the iPlayer.

The doc is up on iPlayer, Dougie, and it's worth a watch. It's definitely an interesting story because it's a kind of subculture (or counterculture? I dunno) that the vast majority of the world remains blissfully ignorant of, but which is probably responsible for all kinds of BAD THINGS It just seems that a combination of forces meant that this cartoon frog - which was originally, innocently created by this nerdy-but-talented comic artist - was adopted by the far-right as a meme - partly because it symbolises a kind of freedom ('nobody's gonna tell me what to do') and a sort of smugness, which winds people up: I'm not sure whether Pepe was first used on 4Chan. 4Chan is a message board a bit like any other EXCEPT all contributors are anonymous, which means of course that they're bolder and more controversial in their posts. As far as I know it didn't START as a far-right board but I think NOW it is. Or was. You can see for yourself, anyway - it's still a popular site www.4chan.org/There are different strands to the story. The artist is still making cute little comic strips and I doubt he's profited from any of this. He's definitely puzzled. He didn't seem upset.

They like a conspiracy over there Dougie. If you've got a good one they'll love you for it! Try this one: Bill Clinton was really the singer of Funkadelic but Hilary covered it up. I reckon that one will make you really popular!

Lube up that 4chan asshole cos I'm going in!
"Kamala Harris has a secret SEX dungeon where she forces vulnerable, homeless white christian folks into Satanic sex orgies with stray dogs. She then films these bestial orgies and distributes them to the Biden family who have been known to show these tapes during family get togethers such as Thanksgiving and New Year."

I enjoyed it quite a bit - powerful stuff - shame much of the dialogue was near-incomprehensible.
