I wish we’d done this by year. I keep looking at this thread, thinking of records I’d post. These days the majority of my listening is pre-1955. But I can’t even put order to it treating all of these years as one big grab bag. I feel like this time deserves more serious consideration.

There are less than a dozen of us here who are really interested in the pre-1955 period, which doesn't quite allow for the creation of a proper canon, sadly. But when G or Rayge make the final lists of the tunes put forward, there will still be plenty of good stuff there to love/discover/rediscover, so go ahead and have a go.

I deleted my inital 1930 double Charley Patton picks (which didn't seem fair) and decided to go with this one instead. My favorite is "Shake It and Break It But (Don't Let It Fall Mama)" but that's from '29 and I can't say I care for it more than Jimmie Rodgers' "Waiting For a Train". Anyway:
