whole Pallenberg thing here I'll never find the time to watch the whole thing. Could you summarise what was so bad about her? I always liked the fact that she seemed to fight back more than all those other poor women he used to regularly beat up. But I'd be interested to hear if she was an arsehole as well. And I don't get the idea that there was anything tragic about the guy. A tragic hero is supposed to be a great person with a flaw while he seems be one huge flaw with good dress sense. An absolutely awful human being. And as for the controversy surrounding his death being well documented; there's a big difference between 'well documented' and 'written about a lot'. There's no real evidence of what happened because everyone possibly involved is dead and they left no substantial information to document; well or otherwise. As for the deathbed confession, this is what Andrew Hickey says in The History of Rock Music in 500 Songs podcast, in his latest episode about the Stones: " Over the years, various narratives have been constructed to make what happened seem more mysterious — and lucrative — than it seems. Tom Keylock — who stole several of Jones’ belongings from his house after the death — claimed in the nineties to have had a deathbed confession from Thorogood, saying that he deliberately drowned Jones (Thorogood’s family say that Keylock never visited Thorogood on his deathbed)." Another person who was there originally said there were no suspicious circumstances and later changed her story to say she'd seen Thorogood bulling Jones and was sure he'd killed him but she didn't see it. So, there's some evidence but none of it very reliable. And he was an arsehole so fuck him.
