People get sucked in by the hype. They're scared of missing out on something that's being talked about.

I was expecting some laughs at least. I don't think Greta Gerwig has much of a sense of humour. Ladybird was pretty good.

I'm counting down the days until the new Scorsese is on general release. Not just because it's Scorsese, but I also read the book a few years ago ( Killers of the Flower Moon) and it's such a powerful and disturbing true story. I'm fascinated to see what he does with it.

It will be his last film so I'll be willing it on.

It will be his last film so I'll be willing it on. His last? He's currently in pre-production on two films and a TV series..(And still intends to do the Grateful Dead movie with Jonah Hill)

I thought I'd read somewhere he was close to retiring and he wasn't envisioning more movies. I didn't realise he had all that in the works.

Marty has too much energy, even in his old age, to stop moving..Once the strikes end, a movie called The Wager and a Teddy Roosevelt biopic are on the slate..Both involving Leo DiCaprio..He's also executive producing/directing the first two episodes of the Gangs of New York series..(Believe it's landing on HBO or "MAX")..Lots to look forward to..

I enjoyed that, and Little Women, but they've both been done better elsewhere (especially Ladybird which just seemed like a rehash of several coming-of-age 90s indie films). Don't suppose I need to say SPOILER here but there's a brief Rob Brydon cameo which made the ticket price almost worthwhile. Almost.

Let's hope the tv series is better than the film, which is far and away the worst thing Scorsese has done.

I saw it yesterday. I went in with low expectations (I’m not a fan of the Nolan films I’ve seen) - but it was very good. The performances were all uniformly great. Nolan’s stylistic bombast seemed to be just muted enough. An extremely impressive film (and you have to root for any non-sequel, non-franchise film these days). I could pick a few nits (it treats Oppenheimer’s political troubles as the main fallout of the Manhattan Project, de-emphasizing the 200M+ dead). But on its own terms, it’s a pretty wonderful film.

People get sucked in by the hype. They're scared of missing out on something that's being talked about. there's something to that. I'm not scared but it's fun hobnobbing about something in the zeitgeist. I don't get to do it very often. I saw the trailer for Barbie and I thought it was delightful. I was invited to a screening tonight but since it's a work night and our traffic is so unpredictable I had to pass. hype can be fun.

Going to see Oppenheimer tonight, in the vip screen room. Basically you get a recliner chair, that's it.

I love watching movies in recliner chairs. it's what the Good Lord intended.
I'm surprised how many people I know have seen and endorsed "Oppenheimer" - I mean, people I wouldn't have expected to be interested in it in the least.
