Creepy as hell. I really liked that the first time but the second time I thought it was a bit silly, especially the ending - and I say that as someone that usually loves this type of silly ending in other modern horror films. I also thought the acting of the younger guy was all over the place, sometimes natural, other times hysterically overwrought. Toni Collette was brilliant though, as were some of the set pieces, the way the camera lingers on certain things or doesn't show something at all. That car scene which lasts an entire night and into the next morning I think is astonishing.

I mean, "dark comedy based on a true story" is as close as I can get. I feel like the filmmakers managed to do the most creative thing you can do with a story based in several conflicting accounts. There's no shortage of comic relief, but...it's fucking dark, isn't it?

Oh, I absolutely loved it! One of the most purely entertaining films I've seen in the last couple of years. It didn't let up for a minute, and yeah - all kinds of grim laughs.
The cast was stellar, too. I'd only ever seen Margot Robbie in that Wall Street thing so this was quite an eye-opener. And whoever it was who played her mother (Alison..?) was wonderful.

Oh, yeah - Alison Janney plays a certain type of character really well (if you've ever seen Drop Dead Gorgeous, she's something of a show stealer in that as well).
The guy who plays Jeff's friend/her bodyguard is amazing.

Steven Soderbergh's really quite silly psychological thriller. It starts out with the feel of an arthouse film, with its strange camera angles and washed out colour scheme. And then goes onto become One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest vs Misery. With the subtlety and cleverness of The Bodyguard. Entertaining enough though.

Anyone watched ‘Suburra:Blood on Rome’? It’s a Netflix thing. A film from 4 years ago, and a series with some link to the film.
It’s badly dubbed, and bits of it are ridiculous, but it’s very entertaining. I am addicted, and can’t wait for s3.
It’s beautifully shot, with some great Roman backdrops
Warning:some mild nudity and killing

I've tried watching the Dirt the last couple nights on Netflix. Terrible.

American Gods It's one of those shows were you have to give it your full attention or you'll miss something. McShane is watchable as usual, the Irish accents are shite, it's a bit slow moving but I like it. I'd hate to read the book if i'm being honest, sounds hard work.

Just been to see The White Crow. It was sumptuous. I had such a crush on Nureyev when I was a youth.

I thought Hereditary fell apart after a strong first half.
Which was a real shame because the first half was really good but then it descended into horror trope hell.

Dreadful. I want to see that because the reviews have been SOOO bad! but I suppose it just gets annoying after a while, right?

There are occasional moments where a bit over-acting delivers some bad dialogue in an amusing way that will make you chuckle but most of the time it's just boring and irritating.

Pretty decent entry in the 'deaf woman trapped in isolated woodland mansion being stalked by crossbow-wielding psychopath' canon. Handles the tension well, handles the cheesy bits badly.
