I never get what they mean when they say that. They must have some idea, right? Yes, they do, but the coroner's duty extends only as far as determining whether anyone was to blame in any way, whether any civil or criminal actions might be brought. Natural causes means it wasn't an accident, suicide, or homicide. It is up to the family, or any enterprising person who digs into the death certificate, to publicise what the actual disease/cause was, and the verdict of natural causes gives them the right to withold that information.
