He's no fan of Freddie and The Dreamers and the charms of Asia elude him.
Anyone else?

I ignored it, I won't respond to your passive aggressive behaviour with petty insults. So there, cocknozzle.

I don't know Clock PVC but, of the others, The Eels are the only non-rock. I can understand people not liking them (though I do) but it seems a bit odd them plonked in with the rock. Do they particularly irritate you or something, fange?

Eels and that E guy have always struck me as a bit of the Emperor's new clothes. I know people who love their records and are always praising them to me, but whenever i hear something it always seems so ... ordinary. Quite bland and pedestrian pop-rock, the kind that's been done better by other groups and by people whose voices don't annoy me nearly as much. So i've developed a mild irritation towards them over the years, not really a full blown hatred or anything.

Ah, so it's that you've seen a lot of praise for them .. to a degree. As well as not getting why or that they're above mediocre. I can understand that.
I think they're delightful. In a 'slit your wrists' way.

I can kinda see why people would say that about Eels and make up reasons not to like them, but Beautiful Freak is an out-and-out classic. To even have one tremendous album come out of someone is a tremendous accomplishment.

To even have one tremendous album come out of someone is a tremendous accomplishment. See, that's exactly what i'm talking about. "Out and Out classic", "tremendous album" - I've heard rhis kind of statement dozens of times since that album came out in my mid-20s, and i. just. don't. hear. it. Not quite sure what you mean by "making up reasons". I have no hidden agenda, or personal axe to grind against either E or the band; the reasons i don't like their music are thise stated above, simple as that.
