I bought this album based on a review in Mojo that was extremely laudatory. I thought it was great. Band started by the guitarist from LA band, Dada. Sadly, they never followed up with another. With two members of Mott the Hoople, they played a couple of the songs on SF Bay Area local radio. I've played the album ever since. They do a great version of Wild in the Streets, but the originals are top notch too.

Komintern - Le bal du rat mort (1971) For fans of Zappa's more avant-prog ventures. It would've been nice to have more than one album from them, but at least this one is brilliant and lots of fun.

The brainchild of Weasel Walter. Yep, though I discovered them because of one of my other obsessions. Al Johnson was the vocalist (I'm not sure 'singer' should ever be used for his style) with U.S. Maple, who in my opinion are one of the greatest things ever to exist.

I have a a friend on Facebook who rates US Maple highly. I should invite him here. I haven't explored them in depth aside from the odd song or two.

Talker and Acre Thrills are the two albums that you should check out, they really took what was current in alt-rock (Spiderland and jangle-pop respectively) and deconstructed it into such an odd new form. Did what Beefheart did to the blues, but much, much more thoroughly.
