I don't know him, but the comparison to Williams is apt. Williams was a Bay Area resident and he was always seeking that audience or chemical high. He'd gotten off drinks and drugs many times and then got the neuro disease that led to his suicide. The tunnel from the Golden Gate to Marin County is now named after him.

I turned off after 3 minutes. That was uncomfortable.
When was the guardian interview in relation to this (Feb 3rd)?

I loved ""Whose Line is it Anyway" which was revived here as a much-inferior Drew Carey vehicle. One of my favorite TV shows ever.
He seems like a sweet man underneath it all. And the story is well-written. It doesn't flinch and portrays him honestly, but in a way that makes you root for him. I hope he makes it. He's probably still enormously talented.

It looks like he's drunk half a bottle of vodka there

I read the article a few days ago. I thought the journalist handled it with commendable sensitivity. I never liked him much back in the day, but I have sympathy for his troubles (as I would with anyone really, the fact he was once a celebrity is neither here nor there for me). At least he has a partner who loves and cares for him.

I loved Whose Line..., in the early days anyway. But I was never that fond of him. I always preferred Stiles and Mochrie.
Occasionally over the years though I've thought, "what the hell happened to Tony Slattery?", as you sometimes do about people from the past and there you go. I was aware there had been drug issues but still it's a bit of a shock to see him like that.

I read the article and it's just like Dave states. I can't watch videos like that where people are faking it to make it.

The interview's tough to watch, but even that has some sweet moments.

He was on TV this morning, and was much more 'together', so if you're looking for a happy ending, this sort of comes close.
It's a very sweet and moving interview and brought a tear to my eye. My heart goes out to him.

The line in that interview "Laughter and applause are two of the most addictive things known to man" resonated with me.

Bloody hell. He's such a troubled soul. I hope he can find some peace of mind.
