I know there was a thread on favorite Dylan tunes. Well this is mine. I gave the Ochs song a chance though.

A is Dylan as young punk beat poet..which is my favourite kind of Dylan. It was an absolute blast hearing this again. How insane is that guitar? That's worth the price of admission alone. Wonderful.
I don't have an in-depth knowledge of Ochs, but I generally approve. He's an interesting figure who writes songs of real substance. This, though, is by far the worst thing I've ever heard from him. It sounded like an early 80s Irish Eurovision entry, like Johnny Logan or something. I was actually shocked at how bad it was -MOR of the most asinine kind. Sorry.
I don't think I'll have an easier vote A

Even though I'm not much of a Dylan fan, it easily wins against the thick slice of cheese from Ochs..Vote A

A is like a hoe down where everybody is on methamphetamine. Fabulous.
I like some Ochs but not digging that one.

clearly A is genius but i can't vote for it because i don't want to reward the bleedin' obvious.
i came close to abstaining but B held my interest despite the slightly grating vocals.

I've always thought that Highway 61 would've made a great EP, the first and last track from each side are absolutely spectacular, but I could live without the ham and lettuce filling. It's not bad, but it points the less interesting direction that Dylan was heading in, to my mind, even if it's not yet in full on "The Band" mode.
As anyone who knows me knows, I'm something of a Phil Ochs obsessive, he's easily my favourite solo artist of the 60s. I don't think this is anything like one of his strongest songs, that arrangement is a bit over the top, and he really does seem to strain and stretch for some of those longer held notes. A shame really, because the lyric towards the end is so heartfelt about his depression in his lack of belonging, and even commenting on the phone tap the FBI had in place on him because of his views.

Phil Ochs is good. That’s a good song. A. Is more than a good song. It is a monster truck rally with booze & fireworks.

They're both good but Bob Dylan has the significant edge due to my greater familiarity and associations with it.

The Ochs song is ok, quite heartfelt lyrics, but it's hard for me to vote against this kind of killer Dylan (even if it isn't "in the spirit of the Cup" according to some voters).
