Best American band of their era. No one else comes close.

Talking Heads?
I'm surprised to hear you say that, G.

Talking Heads? I'm surprised to hear you say that, G. Quite easily. They had such an innovative sound and they had the songs and the groove.

1977 - 1983 or so? (I know they went on longer, but that was their peak). I might go for Pere Ubu. Then there's the Ramones, Television, Blondie...or you might go mainstream and choose Fleetwood Mac or someone. Or one of those daft hardcore 'acts'

Yeah but there's not many is there? It's not the strongest period for American bands.
The hardcore lot can bore off. Jokers.

Or one of those daft hardcore 'acts' Ramones - too limited Blondie - a better call, but they lack the strangeness and ambition of The Heads. Pere Ubu/ Television - Too niche and lacking in stand out songs.

Chrome, Tuxedomoon, Dead Kennedys, Devo, The Residents, etc. The only one to even come close in that lot is Devo. Talking Heads actually had songs alongside the experimentation.
