Basically, they're going to be producers of documentaries and family styled and young learner content. Hardly the media spotlight. It's one of the only times in my life I have ever felt sympathy for Queenie having to deal with that pair of no marks. We want to avoid the media...we are victims.....move to L.A....start producing shit for Netflix. Are they taking the piss? All you need is money to produce.

Well the British taxpayer has certainly put enough of that in Harry's coffers over the years.

BBC licence fee to rise by £1.50 to £159 from AprilIF you pay it, worthy of the increase? I don't think i would mind so much, but i could afford it. BBC 4 is playing a blinder, radio 2 is class 90% of the time. BBC1/BBC2 is ticking along nicely. The salaries of some folk pisses me off a bit, but all in all i would be willing to pay it.

I reckon it's going down the tubes. Slowly.
We'll look back on this time as the last golden age for the BBC.
Remember we've got this right-wing news channel on the way, too.

I reckon it's going down the tubes. Slowly. We'll look back on this time as the last golden age for the BBC. Remember we've got this right-wing news channel on the way, too. I think it's been in serious decline for years. BBC1 has been cookery shows and Strictly Come Dancing for donkeys now. They have lost so much sports coverage over the years to SKY that they have barely anything left. BBC3 was their attempt at being ITV which nobody asked for - lowest common denominator yoof crap with the odd bright spot like Fleabag - and what about comedy in general? The endless parade of piss poor sitcoms, Mrs Browns Boys, the fucking panel shows. From The Day Today to The Mash Report. BBC2, which used to be bloody good is not what it was and what about movies and culture in general? I don't need to mention BBC4 again do I? What a disappointment that turned out to be. You are more impressed by the news and journalism than I am but people are switching off even that now hence why there is maybe a room in the market for an alternative. I mean the Beeb plan to spunk £100 million on "diversity and inclusion" and employs June Sarpong as the "director of creative diversity" to oversee this? June Sarpong. Is this some kind of joke? That money should be spent on producing better shows, not some virtue signalling middle class bollocks. The only thing I still think they do really well is nature shows...that's still world class. Nah, I'm sorry, this isn't good enough. Last golden age? I think that has already passed mate.

There is a sense of a lot of stuff, whilst not exactly shovelled down one's throat, being laced with wokery.
Sometimes it's overt and sometimes it's not. But it is there.
It still produces top of the line programming but the reality now is that for me I'd rather watch a YouTube channel than a BBC doc most days.

If Channel 4 were any good then this wouldn't matter so much. Absolute rubbish channel.
